The Gelmerbahn in Guttannen is one of the steepest funicular railroads in Europe and a remarkable feat of engineering in Switzerland. The funicular begins its journey in the valley near the Handeck Falls and leads up to Lake Gelmer, a beautiful, turquoise-colored reservoir at 1,850 meters above sea level. The journey takes around 10 minutes, during which the train climbs a gradient of up to 106%, which is a particularly thrilling experience for passengers.
